STORM WATER / DEICING MANAGEMENT STUDY

and check back for study updates.

GFIA completed an engineering analysis to determine a long-term plan to control glycol impacted storm water runoff before it leaves airport property. A requirement of the airport’s National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, the study was submitted to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in August 2011, and received DEQ approval. The study identified a conceptual plan, schedule, and approximate costs. The next steps are to begin the engineering design, which will take the approved concept and determine actual improvements to be made, and to complete the final design which will allow for the project to be bid and construction to start. The anticipated start of construction is the fall of 2013.
