Hi there! My name is Jerry the Jet, and I’ve just landed at Gerald R. Ford International Airport! As the full-time mascot of the airport, it’s my job to lift the spirits of passengers and bring nonstop joy to each flight.
You’ll see me waiting next to you in the baggage claim, waving to you at the terminal gates, and greeting you in the parking lot. I love taking pictures with families and travelers of all ages, and I always have a fun fact to share about the airport. For example, did you know that over four million passengers came through this airport last year, an all-time record? Or that we offer nonstop routes to more than 35 cities in the US?
I’ll be bringing fun little facts and helpful travel tips to every corner of the airport. You’ll see me zooming around everywhere, but you’ll also find me on screens, standees for photo opportunities and even in fun-filled activity books.

Why did the airport decide to launch a mascot?
A: As GFIA continues to grow, we’re always looking for new ways to engage with our guests and our community. I help to bring a fun, educational, and animated element to that experience.
Where will Jerry the Jet appear next?
A: You’ll see me both in the airport and out in the community. I am planning appearances at the airport's summer food truck events, community events, aviation-related programs, and more throughout the year. You can follow along with me and my adventures on the airport's social channels @FlyGRFord.
Is there a story behind Jerry's name?
A: My name reflects the welcoming spirit of West Michigan. It’s a nod to the airport’s namesake, President Gerald R. Ford, and of course, I'm a jet, so the name fit naturally.
How is Jerry the Jet part of GFIA's educational initiatives?
A: I support GFIA's broader mission of aviation education and community outreach. I'll be helping introduce the next generation of leaders to careers in aviation and serving as a symbol of how welcoming and inspiring this industry can be.
Does Jerry the Jet have a birthday?
A: My birthday is the same as the airport’s, which is November 23!
Will Jerry appear at every event at the airport?
A: I won't be at every event, but I’ll be part of many public-facing opportunities, especially those involving families, education, or guest experience initiatives.
