GFIA Employee Recognition Program

The Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GFIA) takes guest experience seriously. With the Airport Wide Employee Recognition Program, employees can publicly recognize others for outstanding work. Employees within organizations and all functions that work at GFIA may be nominated for an employee recognition award.
The Submission Process
- Identify the person(s) you believe should be recognized based on the criteria listed below.
- Obtain their approval to recognize them publicly.
- Fill out the submission form at the bottom of this page.
By nominating someone for the employee recognition award, all qualified entries will be entered into a randomly selected drawing for a $25 Starbucks gift card. These drawings will occur quarterly.
Criteria
The Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority (GFIAA) is committed to SOAR. The verb “SOAR” was specifically chosen to describe the GFIAA Core Values and is defined as flying or rising to majestic stature; maintaining height in the air without flapping wings or using engine power; increasing rapidly above the usual level.
Our core values describe how we will act and interact with our fellow team members, partners and guests. These also serve as the basis for our behavior, actions and fundamental beliefs of our organization.

The Selection Process
The Guest Champions Working Group will meet quarterly to review submissions from the previous quarter and make one selection for a quarterly recognition. The goal of the Guest Champion group is to improve the overall efforts of the Airport in strategic and creative ways.
Employees that receive quarterly recognition will receive the following:
- A Premium Parking spot in the covered parking garage or a Rapid wave card for three consecutive months*
- $50 Starbucks gift card provided by Host
- A certificate of achievement
- Recognition at the GuestEx Working Stakeholder Meeting and Airport Authority Board Meeting
- An entry into the Annual Employee Recognition Program in which one person is chosen for an Annual Employee spotlight
Annual Employee Spotlight will receive:
- A Premium Parking spot for 9 additional consecutive months*
- A $200 gift card
- An engraved recognition plaque
- Recognition at the GuestEx Working Stakeholder Meeting and Airport Authority Board Meeting
- A personal or team highlight on digital displays throughout the airport terminal program
- Recognition in the Annual Report to the Community
Note: To receive benefits, the employee must be an active and current employee of an organization working at the airport.
*GFIAA Employees that have parking in the garage, or elsewhere, will be given an employee compensation in lieu of parking.
