Benefits
The Authority offers the choice of two Health Care Plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, both of which include Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage
- PPO Plan – Once deductible is met, Plan pays 80% of in-network services
- High Deductible Plan – Once deductible is met, Plan pays 100% of in-network services
Your health, dental, and vision benefits take effect the first day of the following month of hire. Health Care waiver credit available for medical and RX. Monetary Stipend per pay period provided.
The Authority participates with Delta Dental for our dental coverage. Our coverage gives you and your family members the benefits of the following services: Diagnostic and preventative, basic, major, and orthodontic. There is no cost to the employee for this benefit.
The Authority participates with EyeMed for our vision coverage. Our coverage gives you and your family members the benefits of the following: annual eye exam, an allowance for eyeglass lenses, frames, and contacts. There is no cost to the employee for this benefit.
The Authority offers Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts. HSA accounts are also available in conjunction with the high deductible insurance plan only. Monies are withdrawn bi-weekly from paycheck.

The Authority offers Vacation, PTO (paid time off), and STD (short term disability).
Vacation:
Vacation accrual begins at the time of hire.
PTO:
Employees will receive a prorated PTO balance, once they have completed six (6) months of service.
Short-Term Disability (STD):
The Authority provides short term disability to all employees who have completed six (6) months of service. In the event of accident or injury, employees will receive a percentage of weekly payments.
The Airport Authority at Gerald R. Ford International Airport is a member of the Municipal Employees Retirement System (MERS). All new employees will be required to participate in a defined contribution plan (DC).
Employees are also required to participate in a retirement health care savings plan (HCSP). The HCSP is a tax free medical savings program that allows both employees and employer to invest money while employed, for use of eligible medical expenses upon leaving employment with the Authority.
Employees have the option of participating in a voluntary deferred compensation plan (457B) with Nationwide.
Employees may receive a one time wellness incentive to supplement medical and prescription premiums, by completing an annual physical. A second one time wellness incentive can be received if you are a non-smoker or if you participate in a smoking cessation program.
The Authority offers discounted membership opportunities, for employees and their immediate family members, to the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
