The Gerald R. Ford International Airport encompasses 3,129 acres of land and is located in southeastern Kent County in the State of Michigan. The Airport is approximately nine miles from the downtown Grand Rapids area. The Airport property lies within Cascade Township, the city of Kentwood, and the city of Grand Rapids. It is bounded by the Thornapple River to the east, M-6 to the south, Patterson Avenue to the west, and 36th Street to the north. I-96 also runs along the northeastern edge of the property providing direct connection to Detroit, Michigan.

The airport has land to lease for hangar construction, aircraft maintenance facilities and other private or commercial aviation uses. Land is also available for non-aviation commercial development in this rapidly growing region.
