Grand Rapids, Michigan, July 14, 2022 – Michael Verhulst has joined the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority Board.
Verhulst will serve a three-year term on the seven-member board, which is appointed by the Kent County Board of Commissioners and responsible for general oversight of the airport.
Verhulst brings more than two decades of experience in business administration, public policy and strategic direction to the role, as well many years as a leader and volunteer for several organizations.
“We are pleased to welcome Michael to the board,” Airport Authority Board Chair Dan Koorndyk said. “With his strong business acumen and community connections, he is a valuable addition to the Airport. We look forward to his insights on our operational strategy and growth.”
As executive vice president of strategic growth at Acrisure, LLC, Verhulst identifies business opportunities by cultivating and maintaining relationships with both existing and potential clients. He previously served in leadership positions at Rockford Construction and Wolverine Building Group and has owned several businesses. Over the years, he’s gained experience in social work, business, law, technology, innovation, collaboration, design and related fields.

Throughout his career, Verhulst has served on several local boards and committees. He is currently chairperson-elect of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce and serves on the boards of the Grand Rapids Symphony, Priority Health and YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. He is also a member of the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, Project One Module of Spectrum Health and the advisory council of HBeX - Ford, GM, Chrysler & DTE.
Verhulst has earned several nominations and awards. His recent accolades include Crain's Notable Veteran's Award, the Starnet Gold Design Award and being named a Diversity Champion by Corp! Magazine.
Verhulst served in the United States Army and attended Davenport University.
