Grand Rapids, MI – The Gerald R. Ford International Airport’s (GFIA) finance team has been recognized for outstanding financial reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States & Canada (GFOA).
The Kent County Department of Aeronautics received the “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is the 22nd consecutive year that the Airport has received the award.
“We are proud to have a professional finance department dedicated to leadership, loyalty, and providing the utmost accuracy for the Gerald R. Ford International Airport,” said GFIA Executive Director Brian Ryks.
“This award is well deserved, and is a reflection of the excellent work and performance of the entire Gerald R. Ford International Airport finance team.”
An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individual(s), department, or agency designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. This was presented to GFIA Finance & Administration Director, Brian Picardat. Picardat has been employed by the Kent County Department of Aeronautics for 26 years.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
