Ford Airport Executive Elected to National Board

Phillip Johnson, A.A.E., Deputy Executive Director of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, has been elected to the national Board of Directors of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Johnson, who has been with Ford Airport as deputy executive director since 1994, has over 30 years of airport and aviation-related experience, including having served in airport operations management roles at Long Beach (CA) Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) through AAAE’s professional accreditation program, and currently serves as chairman of AAAE’s Airline Economics and Air Service Committee. Johnson holds a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, has served as a FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist, and is a licensed commercial pilot. Among his local professional affiliations, Johnson serves on the Board of Directors of Experience Grand Rapids.

AAAE, founded in 1928, is the world’s largest professional organization representing the men and women who work at public-use airports. AAAE’s 5,000-plus members represent some 850 airports and hundreds of companies and organizations that support the airport industry.
