Gerald R. Ford International Airport Joins Twitter

More than 500 million people are registered Twitter users, and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport is now among those. The Kent County Department of Aeronautics is pleased to announce it has launched a Twitter handle under the name: @FlyGRFord.

“This is another way, in today’s social media environment, for us to proactively reach out to our customers to ensure we are providing the best service possible at GFIA,” said Executive Director Brian Ryks.

Twitter, one of the most popular social media sites in the world, enables users to send and read messages of up to 140 characters known as “tweets.” GFIA is also on Facebook under the name: Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

“Timely two-way communication is critical in allowing us to distribute important information that could affect passenger travel through our facility,” said Ryks. “Twitter will also aid in responding to specific customer needs as they arise.”

Customers can follow @FlyGRFord for updates on airport events and projects. GFIA will also monitor the site for feedback during regular business hours as a way to stay ahead of customer concerns.
